ABOUT JAMES FORTUNE
Back in the 1970's in the aftermath of a political, civil and sexual revolution, photographer James Fortune plied his trade in the back stages and VIP sections of some of the nations biggest musical events. Fortune spent more than a decade photographing rock n' roll icons such as Mick Jagger, Jim Morrison, Elton John, Led Zeppelin and countless others.
He ran with the high and mighty and photographed them all from Eric Clapton to Paul McCartney to Iggy Pop. The bedroom walls of America's youth were plastered with his rock star posters. His catalog contains over 15,000 images from the tumultuous '60s and '70s. Over 150 of his iconic photographs are part of the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame's permanent collection and his work has been featured in numerous documentaries and books.
